St. Patrick's Day T-shirts

It's March 1st today, and soon it will be St. Patrick's Day, or St. Paddy's Day, or whatever you like to call it.
Whether you are Irish or not, St. Patrick's Day, which is celebrated on March 17th each year, can be a fun holiday. Many bars in the United States and other countries serve green beer on St. Patrick's Day. I have personally been to a real Irish pub however that does not serve green beer, in fact, they say that it is not a true Irish tradition to dye the beer green. Many people wear green, it is said to avoid being pinched. Some will even dye their hair green for the day! In Chicago on St. Paddy's Day, the river is dyed green. Some communities have St. Patrick's Day parades, the very first one being in Boston in 1737!
On St. Pat's Day you'll probably see a lot of shamrocks. The standard shamrock has three leaves which signify the three entities, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The word shamrock comes from the Irish word seamróg or seamair óg, meaning "little clover". The tradition of wearing shamrock on Saint Patrick's Day can be traced back to the early 1700s.

St. Patrick's Day T-shirts and Gifts

It's almost Valentine's Day, the day of love, the day of chocolates and valentine cards and sentiments, a day some look forward to with excitement, another looks forward to reluctantly.
The next major holiday is St. Patrick's Day. I celebrated last St. Patrick's Day in Chicago, IL. My son in law was there for his fantasy baseball get together, and my daughter, the grandkids, and I toured the immediate area surrounding our motel on St. Patrick's Day. Like us, there was a lot of tourists and I suppose locals as well out and about that day, and most everyone seemed to have either a St. Patrick's Day T-shirt, button, or at least was wearing green. Although we didn't get to see the parade, we did get to see the dyed green Chicago River. It was exciting. I'm not sure why but it was. I went back to Chicago again in August and spent a lot of time walking around the downtown area, and the river is actually much more beautiful in the summer than when green, but still, it's a tradition and traditions are fun!
What is the origin of St. Patrick's Day? Taken from history.com:

St. Patrick is believed to have driven the snakes from Ireland. Once a pagan himself, St. Patrick is one of Christianity's most widely known figures.
The modern secular holiday is based on the original Christian saint's feast day also thought to be the date of the saint's death. In 1737, Irish immigrants to the United States began observing the holiday publicly in Boston and held the first St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City in 1766.
Today, the tradition continues with people from all walks and heritages by wearing green, eating Irish food, and attending parades. St. Patrick's Day is bursting with folklore; from the shamrock to the leprechaun and to pinching those that are not wearing green.
