Kids and Hockey

I was at the ice arena a few days ago watching my grandson's hockey practice. He's in his first year of organized hockey, Mites, and loving every moment of it. In the U.P. of Michigan hockey is a sport you see many children playing on side roads, small town rinks, and arenas starting already at five or so years of age.
My son played hockey for about 11 years, from the time he was five years old until he was a sophmore in high school, and I enjoyed watching him play as well. It's a great way for kids to keep in shape, get involved, learn committment, teamwork, and simply have fun.

Being a parent of a child in organized hockey takes committment as normally you will spend a fair amount of time at the ice rink for practices, games, and tournaments. Hockey players also wear a lot of gear, so be prepared to spend a bit on helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey gloves, shin guards, hockey sticks, jerseys, socks, hockey pants, and of course the skates! If you keep your eyes and ears open and ask other hockey parents you can usually find that someone has good, used equipment they are willing to sell you. At Peacock Cards we have some hockey T-shirts, mugs, tote bags, buttons, stickers, hoodies, and other items that anyone who loves the sport of hockey is sure to love. We have Mites and Squirt hockey Tshirts, hoodies, and other items that are great for kids in those divisions as well as Mite and Squirt coaches! Check out some of our hockey T-shirts and gifts!
